It's A New Day!

Did you know that you may be the deliverer of a miracle? God looks for volunteers to carry out His agenda.
Several years ago, I heard a Christian woman say that God doesn't need her! What?! I think what she meant was God could use her or use someone else ~ that it didn't really matter. That sounds to me like someone trying to be humble. Like someone misunderstanding what "humble" really is.
Let's talk about "humble." The Bible tell us in Numbers 12:3 that Moses was more humble than any man on the earth. Think of all Moses accomplished as he partnered with God! God spoke with Moses face to face (Numbers 12:8). God's anger was aroused on behalf of Moses when Aaron and Miriam spoke against him. Moses' humility came as a result of the relationship he and God had. Moses was willing to risk the criticism and loneliness that sometimes comes about when one steps out and up to the plate to do what God has instructed. Moses cared more about God's opinion of him than he did of the opinion of others. That's what made Moses humble.

It seems to me that when we look through the Bible, we see that God looks for specific people to carry out his plans. All of David's brothers were marched out as candidates for King. But David was the one God chose for the assignment.

Think about the miracles that God does. Very seldom in the Bible do we see that God does a miracle without "partnering" with one of us! All of us can point to examples when God broke through time and space and touched earth without a human "partner." (The ten commandments, writing on the wall..etc.) Sometimes He sends angels. But most often miracles are "wrought" by the Power of God working in a human being.

Our part is to believe that God can and will do what He says He will. The Bible tells us that we have the mind of Christ but it also says you should "let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus..." Phil 2:5.
See my point. We have the mind of Christ but must still let the mind of Christ be in us.

More later...

  4. You have been on my heart today. Yesterday as I prayed during worship for Andrew....our worship leader began to talk and he said, I have a question for the congregation "Is anything too hard for God?" and again he said "Is anything too hard for God"........he reminded us of Sara and the promise that nothing was too hard....even what seemed impossible and unnatural. Our song leader said that's when you need a miracle. He also said, I don't know who I'm saying this for but it is for...........and I don't know...but I claimed those words for Andrew. THERE IS NOTHING TOO HARD FOR GOD. We are praying and believing with you..

  5. What a privelige it is to stand with you - along with the great company of believers holding up your arms as Aaron did for for Moses.

I looked up the meaning of Andrew's name yesterday. You probably know that in Greek it means "man warrior". Andrew will be a MAN and he will be a WARRIOR! I believe it. I am changed for the better by the people we connected with yesterday on the prayer call. We've got your back, sister.

  6. Our pastor preached on David the past two weeks and how he is a hero...In 1 Samuel 17:48 it speaks to how Goliath sauntered toward David but David RAN towards Goliath. He wasn't afraid as he had the Lord God Almighty on his side. In the same way, I think of this challenge before Andrew. He has the Lord God on his side...nothing is impossible.

Continually praying for Andrew and your family...

  7. I love it that God's ways are above ours although I find myself often trying to figure Him out. He must smile when I start calculating what He is up to. He has chosen to use His children in His work. That is humbling when you consider our weak state. It all goes back to His statement to Moses, "I will be with you and this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you"
Thankfully God is the one who makes it work and we get to know Him more through our participation with Him. We continue to ask God for Andrew's healing. Love you, B

  11. Melanie, I was praying for Andrew yesterday, and then I started singing, "To Thine be the glory, to thine be the glory.... I just looked the song up, and it is "To God Be the Glory" ( for the things He has done.) Standing with you, dear Melanie for Andrew's miracle.

  13. Beautiful devotional Melanie. So true...His ways are so much bigger than our own and He does appoint specific people for specific purposes. All He asks of us is a deep and abiding faith and belief to know that through Him all things are possible.

Blessings on your day my friend. Praying for all of the Dorseys!

  16. Amen! The spirit of God moves the strongest when it has a body to move. We accomplish the most when we partner with God. I've been hearing this a lot lately. I think God's trying to get our attention.

    Still praying and believing!
