It's me. I have few words today. I have cried a river of tears in the past 48 hours. Although the first lab report showed no infection, infection came later. Andrew had to go back into surgery. The surgeon reopened the incision and cleaned out infection. Andrew's skull bone was infected so that was removed. He has a titanium flap to keep the shape of the top of his head. Because the surgeon needed to shave two wide areas on top of his head, we opted to have his entire head shaved. We just told him that today. I think that is the least of his concerns. His head is wrapped turban style and there is a temporary drain for the fluid and another drain that is deeper in his brain to drain spinal fluid.
So far the cultures that have been tested are good. The spinal fluid was sent to the lab a few minutes ago and we should know something about that in a few hours.
Specific prayer: Pray that test results are good ones. Pray that when Andrew is moved, the roommate situation will not be a source of stress. He is being moved today. We have no control over that. Picu is quiet and the nurses are great here. But we will not be allowed to stay here.
Andrew has had a headache today. He had Tylenol, then Percoset and finally morphine. Pray that the headache is gone when he wakes and does not return. We were told this morning to expect to spend about 2 weeks in the hospital.
Finally, pray for my husband, myself, our other children and my parents. This, obviously, affects the entire family.
We need your prayers to strengthen us in this battle for our son's life and health.
I need YOU, YOUR prayer, YOUR faith.
This is where I was directed in God's Word this morning: "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you" Matthew 6:33.
These are the very words of Jesus. They are precious to me this morning.
Again, thank you for praying for Andrew. We still believe in a miracle and 100% recover. No backing down. No giving up. No giving in. We owe that to our son.
Love,
Melanie & family

ReplyDeletePraying for nothing but clear test results. I pray that your time in the hospital is a time of healing and rest, the rest that Andrew needs to start on the path to complete healing. Also praying for the headache to be gone completely so no more medications are needed. May God comfort you with His peace, His promise, His love and His new mercies each day. I have been and will continue to pray for Andrew and your entire family!
ReplyDeleteExodus 15:26
He said, "If you listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you."
God bless you all Melanie!
You know I am praying...not only for Andrew but for your whole family. It is good to shed that river of tears...you can't hold it in. I am so sorry Mel that you are having to go through this. Just know that so many are lifting Andrew and your family before the Throne.
ReplyDeleteToday we fight this battle in prayer. Our hands are up Lord. You are our strength. There is no god like Jehovah! Your greatness we cannot fathom! Tumors must bow to you. You are Andrew's shield and shelter.
ReplyDeleteMelanie, I have something I was going to mail for A today to your house. I think he will like it. Should I mail it to the hospital? If so, do you have the address? Love you, Barbara

ReplyDeleteLord, You know Andrew's needs. You are able to heal him, and if You are willing, YOU CAN DO IT!!!
I'm asking by the power of Jesus Name that You would heal this boy completely.
And in the wait, Father, I am asking You to strengthen his entire family, to show them Your power, to cover them with Your love, to fill them with Your peace, to comfort them with Your presence.
Yes, Lord, please hold each heart and speak tenderly to them.
I am asking it all in the wonderful, powerful, beautiful, matchless Name of JESUS.

Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Ephesians 6:11-13
I cannot imagine how exhausted you must be, Melanie. After only a week in the hospital with our daughter last month, I could barely go on. But we do. We go on because our kids need us.
ReplyDeleteI am praying for Andrew, for you, and for your family. May God honor your faith, have mercy on Andrew, and bring forth a miracle that glorifies HIS name.
Praying for complete healing, rest for all of you, understanding for Andrew, and guidance for the doctors. May God bless and keep you in his arms, and may you PHYSICALLY feel his comfort during his time of uncertainty.
ReplyDeletePraying everyday often, for Andrew and your dear family.
ReplyDelete"Lord, Your Word says that because You are my help, I sing in the shadow of Your wings. My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me." Psalm 63:7-8
ReplyDeleteMy prayer is that you all feel Jesus holding you safely & that you feel His peace.

Continuing to pray for each of you, but most specifically, Andrew!

From one mama to another, we are on bended knee for your precious boy. As I walk throughout my day, I am with heavy heart. Andrew never leaves my thoughts and prayers. I cry out to Jesus for His mercy and healing. Not long ago, I was in that same hospital pleading with Jesus for healing of my loved one (also a brain surgery). He answered! I know He is answering now. He will heal your boy, I claim it in the name of Jesus. To Him be all the Glory!
ReplyDeleteWill not cease prayer over you ALL until you ALL walk out of this valley of darkness.
Brandi
Standing in battle with you on this and praying over you all....
ReplyDeleteI'm praying still. Wish I could put words to my prayers on here. But I am so tired from little sleep that I need to nap. I can only imagine how tired you must be.
ReplyDeleteI'll be back.
Not backing down in prayer.
Love and hugs
Melanie:

May you continue to allow God to be your strength - even when you feel you have none of your own. He is faithful!
We are fighting with you on the battlefield - THROUGH PRAYER!
Hold on to Jesus! He's covering you with His wings.
Psalm 63:7-8

I sing in the shadow of Your wings.

Your right hand upholds me.

Still standing in prayer with you for Andrew's miracle! I love the verse you cited - Matt 6:33!!
ReplyDeletestill prayin!
ReplyDeleteDear Melanie,
ReplyDeleteThanks once again for being such a vessel used to bring glory and honor to Jesus.
Even in your most difficult days you are truly a seeker of His Kingdom!
When I was reading your post this scripture came to mind;
Psalm 37:28 - For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones.
You have been so faithful since day one of Andrew's journey to bless the Lord in ALL things!
You've done this day after day:
Hebrews 10:23
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
I'm praying with you and crying at times also.
I'll never give up, give in, God is at work and HE IS FAITHFUL!!!
Standing with you, upholding you and your family before the throne of God daily~
I know all to well how much your heart is hurting. Our son went through the same thing.
ReplyDeleteI pray that Our Lord will heal your precious son. I pray that all his test will come back fine and I pray that he holds Andrew in the palm of his hand.
Dear Jesus...Touch gently this life in which you have created.
I kept a daily journal of EVERYTHING that went on with my son, (meds given, tests, surgery, everything) Just small notes. It helped me so much to the point that I felt as though I had some controll. When a nurse or Dr. would ask me a question, there my answer was. I know your mind is not clear right now.
May The Lord give you and your family strenght. He WILL hold you up.
God Bless all of you and I will continue to pray for your Andrew!
praying!!!!!!!

We are praying in Columbus, Ohio!
ReplyDeleteIsaiah 41:10.....
ReplyDeletepraying for you all.

This is the verse the Lord spoke to my heart today: "'For nothing is impossible with God.'" Luke 1:37.
ReplyDeleteImpossible. Not capable of occurring, or being dealt with, or accomplished. Totally unlikely. Something that cannot be done.
Possible. Capable of happening. Something that can be done.
God doesn't know the word "impossible".
Interesting to me that the difference in the spelling that stands in the way are two little letters. I M. I'm. I am the one who often doesn't believe. I am the one who often doesn't trust. I am the one who sees nothing but difficulties ahead. I am the one doubting the possible.
"Limitations are raw material for great expectations from God."
Expect great things. God isn't finished yet.
Praying,
Joy
I'm so sorry for this little setback. I'm praying all the tests will come out gold and Andrew will resist infection this time. I remember how he told you that it isn't that bad, and I want to cry. What a brave, sweet little boy you have. God is strengthening him from the inside out! What a stout heart he has.
ReplyDeleteMy mommy's heart is crying out for you, dear sister.
I think of and pray for you and your sweet family everyday. When we are weak, others are strong. I am sad for the set back and I know that the Lord is in control!
ReplyDeleteI am praying!
I love you sis, and your family is covered in my prayers.
ReplyDelete100%. No backing down. The Lord our God is mighty and worthy to be praised. He knows it all.
ReplyDeleteSending a hug, comfort, prayer and rest your way.

I will pray without ceasing for you all.. Much love going your way. Blessings, Debbie
ReplyDeleteYou will get through this with God's grace, strength and love...HE is with you now and will never leave your side.
ReplyDeleteI too ask St. Padre Pio and our Blessed Mother to intercede on Andrew's behalf...
With our Beloved Lord's Blessing and Almighty Father, Andrew may be healed...
Please know your whole family is in my thoughts, heart and prayers each day.
I believe Jesus spoke to me yesterday and he dictated a letter on my blog site...It is called
"DO NOT BE SCARED, AFRAID"
Sincerely,

Jesus Knows You Best
Oh Melanie I am praying, praying, praying. My heart goes out to you. I am reaching out with a big hug for you. Get some rest and remember that God does not slumber. He is watching over you all.
ReplyDeleteMuch love!
we had so many bloggers hold us up during our great niece Katie's heart surgery and post-surgery chest incision infection (http://skirkman.blogspot.com/2009/07/katie-videosweet-coloring-and-grandma.html)..I just had to send a prayer your way.
ReplyDeleteMay our Lord show His presence and His healing hand in a special way...His promises NEVER fail
Jer. 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you, and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."
Even though we have never met, as a mom I feel your heart. I am asking for God's strength and comfort for you in obtaining rest that you need to be strong for your son. I am asking God to shoulder the burdens you feel you must carry and allow His healing waters refresh your body, mind and soul.
ReplyDeleteFor Andrew, we ask for God's will in everything. We believe that whatever we ask for in faith shall be done and we ask for healing in this little one's life. God grant him relief from infection, pain and release him home to his family so he can begin to recover and complete a mighty work for You!
"Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him!" Psalms 2:12
"The Lord will hear when I call to Him." Psalm 4:3
