Friday's Fave 5 ~ replacing my Friday's Favorites!
1. Cheese grits - On Fridays I don't teach classes, so this morning I got to fix my favorite breakfast comfort food - cheese grits (don't even think about making instant). And to all ya'll nawthenuz, if you don't like grits, you just haven't had them fixed right!
2. A really good BOGO - Yesterday I went to Publix and bought one Hellman's Light and got the other one free! Sadly, Publix is now an enabler in my addiction to stockpiling the Hellman's. But what if I run out of Hellman's for all that leftover turkey next week and we can't make sandwiches? You tell ME, what would I do then? I get the sweats just thinking about the possibility...
3. Holiday themed kitchen towels - what can I say, I get a thrill from textiles. (I finally had to put my foot down (on a rug, no doubt) about my penchant for buying rugs - I'm serious.)
4. Christmas music! Now while I am dismayed at how Thanksgiving seems to have been totally overlooked in retail, I do love me some Elvis singing Blue Christmas.
5. Fridays off from teaching so I can clean house and catch up - Okay, truth, Fridays off from teaching so I can pretend I am going to clean house and catch up.

Hi Melanie. Thanks for joining in. I loved your fave five. They made me smile. I'm not allowed to run out of Hellman's around here either. I don't stockpile but heaven forbid if that back up jar is not ready to go! LOL.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny I was just telling my hubby the other day how I'd love to be able to have Friday's off to pretend catch up. :v)
Thanks for visiting my site. You are right - I did love your first fave. I am from Magee, MS - we have just always only been able to find WR Flour there -- it makes the best biscuits - check it out when you get home.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving and safe travels. I am traveling that way myself on Wednesday.
I didn't realize we both graduated from She Speaks this year! What a small world.
ReplyDeleteI, too love the Elvis Christmas CD'S! It's great!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sonya
I linked over from Susanne's and enjoyed your list, Melanie.
ReplyDeleteOh, how I can relate to your love of cheese grits and Christmas music! A Friday break from teaching sounds lovely, but I'm not as familiar with that one. :-)
I love Christmas music too!
ReplyDeleteHi Melanie, so glad you're joining in :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment on my blog, let me know when you try the cookie cake and what you thought. It's one of my favorites :)
Have a wonderful day,
Sandra
Oh, Christmas music, I can totally relate....I just started listening to some today! :)
ReplyDeleteFun fave 5's Melanie. Fridays off must be grand! Hellman's in our part of the world is Best Foods and it is the best. Enjoy your Elvis!!
ReplyDeleteHoly mazoli, I can relate! I, too, am a sucker for holiday textiles! I love me a new kitchen towel!!
ReplyDeleteSo I'm a former Florida native, now in Arizona for ten years--and, oh, how we miss Publix!! My grandparents send us stuff from there every once in a while!! :)
And while I don't actually like grits, AS a GRITS, I still have to love them in spirit! I am told they are best with cheese!!
Oh, man, Christmas music makes every task and every moment better--even the cleaning I'm putting off! :)
I participated for the first time today--what fun!

Well, what could be better than those 5 things? I'm heading out to Cracker Barrel in the morning, and will have grits with my breakfast, I mix the fried apples with them - MMMMmmmm.
ReplyDeleteOh yes - Hellmans (Best Foods) is the only one I use too!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week!
Hi Melanie! I laughed so hard when I read this. I am a mayonaisse fan (Hellmans) and I know exactly what you mean! Have you noticed how expensive it is right now! Good Grief! But I don't care... have to have it!
ReplyDeleteI feel exactly like you do about Thanksgiving being overlooked. The retailers are responsible for pushing the Christmas items and decorations they want to sell. It is very sad. However, we just need to be thankful every day for what God has given us and for his mercy!! Have a very Blessed Thanksgiving!!
