I may be completely ruined for retail at this point. Within one week I found some unbelieveable bargains...all at 2 different thrift stores. Usually when I visit a thrift store it is to look at dishes. Two of my favorite serving pieces came from a thrift store ~ an orange Pier One Bowl (fave color) and a celery green Southern Living At Home dish.
But since I cleaned my closet of the too big, too frumpy, too old, too whatever...
AND "being low on cash flow...a thrifting I did go."
Because I dropped my camera while taking pictures of Ted, sometimes they come out blurry now. Also my daughter was working out at the Y and I sweet talked my husband into taking the pictures. He happily handed over the camera when she walked in the door.
(Last year Andrew was my Shop Your Closet photographer. I love you, Son.)
This whole "frugalicious fotog" session took A LOT longer than I thought it would. But I wanted to share my fabulous and frugal finds with you. ONLY what I listed is "thrifted." The rest I either already had or I "lifted" from my daughter's closet. The dark red shoes are hers. I think that in some of these pictures I look like a GIANT but I am 5' 2 1/2".
Sweet Pea top ~ $2.
Sweet Pea top ~ $2.

Ann Taylor skirt $2.50 (top looks better w/skirt IRL)
~~~~Liz Claiborne "watermelon red" skirt $3 (Daughter says a white tank would be better with this. And I'm wondering what is that shiny thing on my bottom lip and why do my knees look dirty?)
Yeah...I'm pretty much gonna keep checking out the thrift stores!
And...wow...I need to clean my grout. But not this week.
Love your thrifting purchases..I love thrifting, but you and my dear sister are smaller sizes and seem to have better luck... for wedding shower thrifted china plates for about 49 cents..take care..
ReplyDeleteThrifting is like finding great antique finds, or new furniture pieces it seems... in that, you either have an eye for it to some degree or maybe, not so much... YOU really seem to have a great knack! nice selections : ) you look beautiful in the many different ensembles.
ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo, such great deals sis. You are gorgeous, love you.
ReplyDeleteApparently I have not discovered the joy of thrift store shopping, and I must get a move on that quick looking at your FABULOUS finds.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you're taking steps towards some light and fun posts. Not to say AT ALL that I don't want to read everything you want to write about dear Andrew.
Great buys, you look beautiful my friend. Much better thrift shops in Florida than in Alberta for sure.......:-) Hugs
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT!! All of it! From one frugalicous mama to anotha' ;).
ReplyDeleteThrift store shopping is so much fun. It's like looking for treasure. Only, your shops look to have much nicer "high end" wear than ours here in small town USA.
Very pretty!
You really found some great buys! Love your pictures ~ You are a pretty, tiny little thing. Hugs ~
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I would say you had a very good day thrifting. Everything looks wonderful on you too, you could be a model my dear!
ReplyDeleteOh girl, thank the Lord I didn't go with you because I would have been trying to get each of the items you bought.lol. What an amazing bargain. You did awesome. I loved them all. The shoes too..oh my!!
ReplyDeleteAbout 2 years ago the Lord answered a question for me. I asked Him to show me where I could cut out spending in my everyday life so that I would have more to give to His work in helping others. He began taking me to thrift stores for clothing and HE would buy my outfits and pick out things I never even thought I'd like.
ReplyDeleteNow it is so much fun to shop with Him - but only on the days when I let Him take me there. I walk in the store and say, "OK, Lord, what are you gonna buy me today?" or sometimes, "What do you want to show me today?"
Like you, the outfits He chooses usually get the biggest compliments! I love it! So much fun to shop in Thrift stores. When I was in Jerusalem many of the people on my trip kept asking me where I got my clothes and when I told them - they began to say, "I'm going shopping with you."
You look beautiful inside and out in these designer clothes. Designed for you in mind from the Master Designer!!!
Happy Thrifting!!
You got so lucky! Look at the great outfits and great brands you found. I never thrift shop. Seems like we just don't have any nice ones around here.
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful in each outfit! I think my favorites are the Sweet Pea top (LOVE it!) and the Haroldd's skirt. You did WELL!!!
ReplyDeleteWhenever you want a partner, mom is your side kick. She is the queen of thrift.
ReplyDeleteHow fun was this?? You got some GREAT finds, and they look WONDEROUS on you...so tiny and petite you are...I have thrifted for dishes many times, and for baby clothes, but I have never looked for myself. You have inspired me. Have a wonderful day....HUGS
ReplyDeleteAwwwwww, it warms my heart so much to hear you enjoying a bit of life again; and your smile couldn't be more beautiful!!! I'm sporting a "thrift store" find today and it makes me feel soooooooo good that it only cost $2.00, so I certainly understand the joy you have in your gorgeous finds! They are all great, but my favorite would have to be that beautiful Harrold's skirt! It looks soooooo "quilty!" Wishing you lots of happy moments in each beautiful ensemble :)
ReplyDeleteMelanie! Wow! What great finds and so pretty. You have great taste in clothes. And....I especially like the cuuute shoes!!
ReplyDeleteVery, very cute! Every one of your finds... and you! ;-) I'm praying for a good thrift store where we are moving!!!
Love Junkin- Its what i do for a livin- you did great!
ReplyDeleteAnd, you look beautiful!
You look great and your finds are amazing! My Mom is a wonderful "thrifter" and finds great things too. I always tell her it'a a gift. My "gift" is finding the clearance rack at Target - ha!
ReplyDeleteWhen you look that good in your pretty thrift finds, then I say, "why not thrift?". A dear friend of mine and her friend, did a gorgeous thrift shopping fashion show, for our ladies retreat last year. What a huge hit that was. They both modeled clothing as beautiful as you have on, and they had ladies rushing to the nearest thrift shops. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you - for being ruined for retail! Who knew thrifting could be so much fun?!? And don't you just look adorable:) Great finds!!:)
ReplyDeleteLove your thrifty finds! Hey, you really are getting into the print thing! I "gotcha" a top today - black background with pink, fuschia, yellow and gray big floral print - Charter Club from Macy's - big clearance sale -70% off plus 25% coupon for Friends and Family - it was a steal I tell you - 4p - looks really tiny to me - should fit - long sleeves but very sheer - dressed up or down - mannequin wore the top with dark wash jeans and it looked so casual chic but then rack display was hanging with cute little black skirt for a dressy look. I am sending it soon with a couple other "surprises". I liked the fashion show! Ann Taylor skirts are sooo cute! Love the Sweet Pea top! Everything is so fresh and "springy". LY4E - AB
