Recipe for No Sugar Brownie:
¼ cup butter
¾ cup Honey (I used 1/2 honey and 1/2 agave nectar and didn't fill it to the top of the 3/4 cup measure.)
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
½ cup flour (I always use self-rising flour so I ommited the baking powder and salt.)
1 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
4 tbsp. Cocoa
1/2 cup chopped nuts if desired (I left these out b/c one son doesn't like them.)
Cream together butter and honey. (Spray the measuring cup and the honey will slide right out. Beat in egg and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking powder, salt. Stir in nuts. Pour batter into greased 9"x9" pan. Bake at 325 F for 20-25 minutes.
I was low on agave nectar or I would have used it in place of the honey altogether.

Last week I was out of the natural peanut butter that I usually put on my whole grain waffle topped with banana slices. So I tried a swirl of agave nectar. It was delicious! I'm going to experiement more with agave nectar and I'll be sure to keep you posted. If you decide to try this recipe, in a few days you can find it on my sidebar.
Do you use agave nectar? If so, how?

Hmmm...I came out as Sgt. Strict. I was a little surprised by that. I'm not going to let my kids see this, they already think I'm the strictest parent of all their friends'. LOL I really thought my answers were not the strictest choices offered on the quiz. Oh, well.

I took the quiz and I ended up being what I already knew to be true...Sgt. Strict. I do not think of myself as strict, but I was told plenty of times that I am by my dear daughters. Funny thing is, my oldest daughter is finding herself being the same way. For at least half of the questions, my answer was not one of the choices. But, it was fun anyway. As for the brownie, I am thankful for the recipe. I think it would work for my diabetic friends too. I am not into brownies but I find it fascinating that one can make brownies that are not loaded with sugar. I learn alot from you. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi Melanie, Thanks for stopping by A Seed of Hope. I love your blogs. I so admire your ability to give up sugar, I know I need to as I have migranes also but I guess the pain of the headaches aren't as bad as the pain of giving up chocolate.
