Hermitage Hills & A Wild, Highlighted Hair!

Good Monday Morning!

Just as I suspected I would, I met some wonderful women at Hermitage Hills Baptist Church last week! I was warmly welcomed and enjoyed meeting new "sister-friends."
More than ever before in my life, I am aware of just how much we need one another.
The Gardening Themed Table where I sat ~ Lovely!

Life is just better when you have your "sisters" to share it.

I grew up in the middle of two brothers so I never had to share a room, or clothes, or any of my "stuff."
When I went away to college, I got a little taste of "sisterhood." Well, a BIG taste of sisterhood. Some I liked. Some...not so much.

When we walked through the cancer diagnosis and passing of our boy, Andrew, I depended on my sister-friends. They did not let me down. So anytime I get to meet more of the sisters, it's a good day!

I got a fabulous surprise when I found out that a friend of 20+ years was driving up to hear me speak in Nashville. Michelle is from the town in Georgia where my husband and I married and eventually moved from to Florida 21 years ago.

She sent me as message confirming she was coming and then she asked me if I wanted to play "Beauty Shop."
Uh...hello. It's my favorite game!
Michelle is a super talented hairdresser and used to do my hair all those years ago.
Foiled!

Now I have a little favor to ask of you. Speaking of hair, I had a wild one several days ago. I entered a contest to become an Oakley Women's Product Ambassador. I could enter photos or a video, as well as answer some questions and write an essay on the theme of "Performing Beautifully."
You can help increase my chances of winning by voting for my video submission. There will be 10 winners chosen and 20% of the votes come from FB voting. The remaining 80% is from a judges' panel who views the photo/video and reads the essay.

To vote for me:

  1. Go to www.performbeautifully.com.
  2. Click on "vote now."
  3. Click on "view video entries."
  4. My video is in the left column, 2nd place. I'm wearing the red Team Andrew shirt and you'll see my name listed.
  5. Click on my video to watch.
  6. Click on "vote" and then consider sharing on FB and encourage your FB friends to vote for me!
  7. You can vote one time per 24 hour period.
THANKS!  My FB badge is in my sidebar if you want to "friend" me.

It's Time...Before & After Pics

Before & After pictures below. Thanks, Susan! You're the BEST!!!

I like the sticker on the bathroom mirror at Susan's shop. It says:

"There's A Cool Chic in the Mirror."

Kindergarten

It's time...(time for what answered at bottom)

It was picture day for the kindergarteners. I lived in Pascagoula, MS, and my teacher's name was Mrs. Dot. According to my School Records Book, my favorite activity was "saying ABC's."

For picture day, Mother cut my hair. I think she may have used her pinking shears on the bangs and I'm pretty sure she pulled out her pink rat tail comb to tease a little pouf on top.

(Workin' my Brooke Shield eyebrows!)

It was picture day for the first graders. I still lived in Pascagoula, MS, but now my teacher's name is Miss St. Pe (pronouced "Pay"). I got a "satisfactory" check mark in everything except "silent reading." That one needed "improvement." My favorite activity was "lerning." 'Guess I had a little more lerning to go.

For picture day, Mother cut my bangs. Short. At least they're straight.

It's time for a haircut!

Tomorrow is haircut day! I'll post a before and after.

Haircut Day, Shop My Closet, Platforms, Doggie Adoration

Sometimes a girl's just gotta do it! So I did. See the hairstyle in my sidebar? I've had a variation of that for 2 years now. I loved it but I was tired of it. So 30 seconds before I sat in the chair Friday I picked up a short hair magazine and chose the first style I saw! Seriously.

Last week I made a "closet confesison." This is my "new" outfit I wore to church yesterday. All of it came from my closet and none of it was new but I had never worn these pieces together. And that's what made it "new." The cami is really old...maybe 6 years old. The skirt is one I bought on clearance last fall (under $12), the tied top is the newest piece that I bought in the spring ~ so technically maybe that is "new." The necklace is a mother's day gift from '08 or was it a bday gift? I have earrings to match but you can't see them since I cropped my head out. I had a weird expression on my face, no doubt due to the Florida humidity!

Close-up of the platform slingbacks...some of my favorite shoes (at least 5 years old) because the platform makes the high heel comfortable and again...slingbacks visually elongate the leg.

Another style tip to "elongate" the leg: Wear a neutral flesh toned shoe.

Last week was One Fine Man's and my anniversary. We went out for seafood and then came home and walked our dog and our neighbor's. Romantic, I know. But it really was because we were together with another couple in love.
These two doggies adore one another. Ours is the pekingese, Ted. Reese is his girlfriend. See how our little dog gazes so adoringly at his big boned girlfriend? And notice how Reese is blinded from basking in Ted's love?
